Julie Lee (Maid of Honor)How we know each other: I have known her since first year in college. God has grown our relationship through prayers. We are known for our regular meetings. First we had daily 9pm phone calls of what we are thankful for that day and that went on for a whole year. Next we did Sat morning phone bible study – going through books and praying together.
Now: We continue to do prayer meetings and talk to each other at least for 3 hours each time. Hahaha Julie always encourages me to pray and she is definitely my life’s intercessor. We prayed about our future husband for a year before I met Hoek~!
Fun Fact: Jules just love looking for her eraser so when you meet her ask her where her eraser is... hahaha (sorry personal joke)
Sarah KimHow we know each other: I met her through our mutual friend Adam. She just has gift of comfort and love. She is the first person I call when tragedy happens to me. I called her from Italy when my puppy died in a car accident.
Now: As you can see in her pic, Skim is always full of laughter. She told me that her God is a God of laughter. We could be just sitting in our room doing nothing and we can start bursting out in laughter for no reason. So if you have a bad day, give her a call.
Fun Fact: Please do not feed her cookies. She is the nicest person in the whole entire world until when you try to share cookies with her.
Mitzu PerezHow we know each other: I met her at JFK during our flight to study abroad in Italy. We both were having anxiety attack from airplane ride. Mitzu is woman of God. I have never seen Mitzu ever being so down or upset. When the enemy brings her the biggest storm in her life, with a smile on her face, she just stands firm in God.
Now: She really knows meaning of joy and I am continuously learning to celebrate life through her.
Fun Fact: Just to let you know at least two weeks before my wedding, Mitzu will be very busy packing her stuff to come to our wedding. She packs at least a week in advance for a weekend trip and she brings at least the biggest trunk in her house for a few days trip. (hehe I LOVE YOU~!)
Christina Kwon YoonHow we know each other: We lived in same freshman year dorm at UVA. Tina really has gift of service. She always opened up her place to me when I didn't have place to go for thanksgiving or Christmas. We lived in same room in last year of our college and she is so sacrificial that she slept on the floor and gave me her bed for whole year.
Now: Tina is happily married and a teacher for special ed children. When she talks about her students, her whole face lightens up and tells us the funniest stories.
Fun Fact: I love her so much that I use her name for everything. When I am order food for delivery, I put down my name as Tina or when I am in starbucks and they ask for my name, I say Tina. Tina is so much easier then purim.
Gene Mack (Best man)How we know each other: One of the first people I met when I moved down to North Carolina. Our offices were right next to each other at King's Park and what started as lunch buddies quickly developed into a great friendship. He and I met twice a week in the mornings to pray...at least that was the plan. Some weeks were better than others.
Now: We still pray together every Sunday night. Gene is one of the very few people in my life with whom I can exchange those difficult questions we need to ask each other to keep each other accountable. I appreciate that I have a friend who loves me the way Gene does.
Personal Note: I admire Gene because he is a man of integrity. He is a man who always searches his intentions to live righteously. Also, I've always appreciated him because he has always believed with me for the dreams God's placed in my heart. In fact, there's been times when he has had to believe For me and what a blessing he was during those times. Thanks for being such a man of prayer and an amazing friend.
Don ChoiHow we know each other: Don and I graduated from the same high school. We had a divinely appointed time and I got to witness him coming into his relationship with Christ at Olive Garden about 3 years ago.
Now: Though Don and I have always been friends, our friendship grew to a whole different level when we began walking together in Spirit and in Truth. Praise God!
Personal Note: Don is among the very few who is as passionate about playing basketball as I am. He and I are now roommates though that'll change in the near future...I have mixed feelings about that for obvious reasons. Don, I always appreciate our conversations, your constant encouragement, and how genuine of a person you are. You're awesome and I cherish our friendship.
Matt JonesHow we know each other: Matt and I also met while I was down in North Carolina. We really got to know each other through Men's Fraternity, but really found a common bond as we both had been out of college for a number of years and in similar stages in our bachelorhood (not any more! muhaha!) Matt is a sickly talented person and I have always respected his humility and his intellect. I also remember when Matt helped me out when I had surgery on my wrist by taking me to and from the hospital and staying with me the entire day while I was completely drugged up. I will never forget that.
Now: Matt is now happily married to our great friend, Jessica! They're quite the dynamic duo.
Personal Note: We had an awesome time at your wedding bro. So glad I got to be a part of it and I'm very excited that you and jess will be in ours. You being there means a lot to me.
Young LeeHow we know each other: The funniest yellow brother I know! Young cannot be put into any categories because he is so enigmatic. I've enjoyed countless nights of great conversations, worship nights, and even cooking with Young and my life in North Carolina would not have been what it was without him as a friend and brother.
Now: Though we are wildly different people, I appreciate his refreshing insight and take on life. Young really has the gift of encouragement and knows how to lift a man's spirit. Young tag teamed with Matt the night after my surgery and slept on my bedroom floor just to make sure I'd be okay through the night. What a friend.
Personal Note: I'm honored to have you as a groomsmen and look forward to your dance moves at the wedding. Bring the Chilean sea bass with you! oh...and a suit. =)
